A man who died after crashing his head-up onto a police vehicle in Ogle County was wearing a helmet, court records show.
Richard Krumm was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and obstructing governmental administration.
A preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 19.
Krumm, of the 600 block of Pecos Lane in Ogles Ferry, died Thursday.
According to court records, the car that struck KrumM was pulled over for a traffic violation about 10:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Waverly Drive in Ogens Ferry.
Krumf said he was wearing his seat belt when the vehicle pulled alongside and then stopped.
He then exited the vehicle and went into the back seat.
The officer’s vehicle was parked in the street and Krumd went into it to check on his wife and son, according to court documents.
The officer told Krum M he was going to have to call for backup because he didn’t have his license plate number, according, court documents said.
He then called for backup from another police vehicle and an ambulance arrived.
The Ogles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 45-year-old Richard Krumn.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kramer was charged in Ogls Ferry Municipal Court with DUI manslaughter, reckless operation of a motor vehicle causing injury, and failing to maintain lane.
He had a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec.-Dec. 19 at the Ogles Municipal Court in the parking lot of the Ogle Municipal Building.
The court also ordered him to pay a $25 fine and ordered him not to drive.
